Stem Cell Surgery
Stem cell therapy has gained validity and popularity in the past decade. At Park View Veterinary Hospital, we have been doing Stem Cell treatment for dogs and cats for the past 10 years. These remarkable cells are derived from your pet’s own fat and so are autologous. As such, there is no fear of tissue rejection or reaction. Stem Cells can be used to treat arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, atopy (inhalant allergies), and pancreatitis among other diseases. Since we process the fat in-house, isolate and concentrate the stem cells and then activate them with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) the same day, their injection into the problem areas also occurs the same day! This is regenerative medicine at its best! The goal is to grow new tissue to replenish that lost by wear and tear so as to increase comfort and decrease pain for your pet. Quality of life is what the ultimate benefit is!
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
We also offer PRP therapy at our practice. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. This procedure involves drawing blood from your pet which is then processed in order to obtain the PRP. This PRP is then injected into the sites of your pet’s injuries. PRP is different from stem cell therapy and the goal is to increase comfort and decrease inflammation in the affected areas. Please call us at (973) 263-5600 to discuss further!
