You and your pet have shared a long, happy life together, they’ve been part of the family, and it’s a painful and difficult experience when it comes time to part with them. Decisions about proper end-of-life care and about when the time is right for euthanasia are hard to make during this emotional and trying time. Parkview Veterinary Hospital understands how you feel, after all, we’re pet owners too.
That’s why we provide end-of-life and pet euthanasia services designed to help you make the right choices for your pet’s care and to make their transition from this life painless, comfortable, peaceful, and dignified. And to make the process easier for you and your family too. You’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that you gave them the best farewell possible.
The Pet Euthanasia Procedure
If your vet determines that prolonged end of life care isn’t recommended, or if your pet reaches the point during palliative care that they’re in constant pain or they refuse to eat, it’s time to consider euthanasia. The procedure involves your doctor putting your pet to sleep with an overdose of anesthesia, allowing them to pass peacefully and painlessly. You are welcome to stay by your pet’s side to comfort them during the procedure. If you choose, we will arrange for a burial or cremation, and have your pet’s ashes returned to you afterward. We’ll be there with you during the entire process.
